WFB Strategy to Set New Goals

Not long until the new year and I think we could all agree that we need a fresh start in 2021 after this year! So I have been in the process of setting new goals for myself for the new year and I have been following the 'WFB Strategy' to help which is a strategy I have come up with myself.

So in today's post, I thought I would share with you the strategy that I have been using along with some ways in which you can help yourself achieve the goals you have set yourself.

WFB Strategy:

W - Understand Your Why:- when you have a firm and precise reason as to why you want to achieve the goal you have set yourself, you have set yourself up for success. Not only have you got a clear understanding as to why you want to achieve your goal but you also have a blueprint for when you are feeling a little lost or unmotivated.

F - Look to the Future:- what is the overall end goal?

B - Work Backwards:- once you know the overall end goal, you can then work backwards from this and outline the steps you need to go along in order to reach the overall end milestone.

Now you have a clear understanding of the WFB Strategy, it is key to know different ways that will be able to help you achieve the goals you have set yourself. Therefore, I have outlined a few suggestions below that I hope will help you...

Write it Down - make sure that your goals are written down along with your why next to them so you can easily refer back to them

Timeline of Significant Events - each time you reach a milestone in your goal journey, make sure you record it and reward yourself for it. For example: if you're looking to read 12 books in a year, a milestone could be to read a book in a month.

Make a Detailed Plan - I am such a planner but it is a good skill to have when it comes to setting goals. Knowing exactly what you need to do is super important to ensure you have a clear roadmap ahead of you to get from point A to point B

Seek Advice - if you're following a goal that someone you know or someone you look up to has achieved, reach out and ask about their journey of getting to where they are. Having some human support and connection is paramount in the goal journey as it will help to inspire you and make you realise that if they can do it, so can you!

Make Your Goals Visible - when setting my goals for the month, I use a whiteboard which sits above my desk so that each time I want to remind myself of my goals, I can just look up and I then know exactly what I am aiming for.

Set Deadlines - even if the goal you have set yourself doesn't have a deadline, set a deadline. By setting a deadline, you are keeping yourself accountable as well as productive which will increase the likelihood that you will achieve the goal you have set yourself.

Record Your Journey - I am a big believer in recording your journey. Not only does it help for you to see how far you've come when you're feeling a bit unmotivated but it is also a great record to have to look back on in years to come and remind yourself that you can do anything when you put your mind to it.

I really do hope you now feel inspired and ready to take on the world with a goal strategy that works and tips to help you remain productive throughout your goal journey.
