Tips for Developing an Active Lifestyle

Living an active lifestyle is up for interpretation. There is of course guidance on what is healthy and what is good to do for your body etc but I also think that balance is important as well.

In today's post, I wanted to share with you some ways in which you can develop an active lifestyle but also point out some things that you could do to make incorporating these tips into your life more realistic.

Tip 1 - Eat Healthy

Of course it is important and good for us to eat healthy and eat all of our fruit and vegetables as this will help improve our lifestyle and the way in which our body functions. One way in which you can help yourself eat more healthy is meal prepping the week ahead and also going out with a shopping list and sticking to it.

Having a healthy diet is understandably important, however I also believe that balance is important also. I am in no way a trained dietician however from personal experience, if I want to eat something, good or bad for me, I will eat it. Of course, I am doing this in moderation but I think it is important to allow our bodies the opportunity to have the slice of cake if we want to and balance it out with incorporating a balanced diet.

Tip 2 - Keeping Hydrated

Hydration and consuming water is super helpful and important for our bodily functions. Not only will it help your digestive system but it will also improve your concentration and ability to remain focused as well as many other benefits.

There are many different calculators and guidance as to how much water you should drink daily for your weight, height, BMI etc so be sure to check it out if you want to consume more water.

Tip 3 - Get Sufficient Sleep

I have spoken a few times about sleep on my blog and how to develop a sleep routine etc. I think sleep is one of the most important things that our body can do. It helps you feel refreshed in the morning, improves your mood and helps repair muscles after exercise, plus so much more!

Create some time to develop your sleep routine and work out what bed time and wake up time works for you as well as how much sleep you need to feel energised and ready for the day ahead.

Tip 4 - Exercise

Again, I have touched on exercise a little bit on my blog and how exercising has benefitted me positively both mentally and physically. Even if you just take the stairs instead of the lift or park in the furthest away spot in the car park instead of right by the supermarket door, this will help improve your fitness.

Tip 5 - Meditation

I think now more than ever, we need a little bit more zen in our lives and to provide ourselves with the opportunity to switch off. If you're not familiar with meditation, there are so many different types that you can practice and I am sure one of them will work for you. Check out my latest blog post "Brining Meditation into Your Life and Sticking to It" to find your meditation practice.

Tip 6 - Track Your Progress

Whether you are tracking your habits, how many steps you've done, how much water you've drunk etc. Tracking your progress will help you stay on track and see what factors have impacted you from not staying on track.

Tip 7 - Gratitude

Especially in today's society, with social media playing a big part in all our lives, I think it is important to step away from social media and look at the basic things in life that we take for granted and see what makes us feel grateful. By focusing on the things we take for granted, we are able to open up our thoughts and gratefulness further to help us live a happier and healthier lifestyle.

These are just some of the ways that you can develop a healthy, active lifestyle. I hope this blog post has helped you in your active lifestyle journey!
