10 Habits to Start Today

Have you been looking for new habits to start to get you into a positive and motivated mood? Implementing and keeping to new habits is such a great way to change up your routine, to try something different and to get you feeling inspired once again. So if you're ready to add some new habits into your routine then keep reading...

Habit 1 - 30 Minutes Walk

Going on a walk each day is a great way to clear your mind and be at one with nature (so they say). But in all seriousness, going on a walk will set you up really nicely for the day ahead if gone in the morning or relax you if gone in the evening.

Habit 2 - Listen to a Podcast

Whether you decide to do this once a week or every day, try and listen to something new, refreshing and educational. Allow your mind to open up to new perspectives or a completely new topic. Podcasts are so easy to listen to as well. You can listen to them whilst driving, running, walking, get ready for the day etc.

Habit 3 - To Do List

The night before, write down your top priories or what you would like to get done the following day. Writing this down the night before will make you feel organised and ready for the day ahead. It also prevents you from fretting the next morning wondering what you will be doing/what's important.

Habit 4 - Sleep

The majority of us think we are getting enough sleep however there are a lot of us that most likely don't have the right amount of sleep that we need for our bodies. Have a little search online and see what the recommended amount of sleep is for your age, gender, body weight etc. Sleep will benefit you in so many ways and make you feel more productive during the day.

Habit 5 - Wake Up Early

Waking up early is beneficial as you have more hours in the day to complete those smaller tasks before getting into the nitty gritty. Waking up at the same time every day is also beneficial as it keeps your body in a routine and will make you feel less tired in comparison to waking up at different times.

Habit 6 - Plan Your Week

You've probably heard me say this on a number of occasions but I love to sit down and plan the week ahead on a Sunday. I find that having the week at my grasp and knowing what I will be doing so beneficial and make me feel organised and productive.

Habit 7 - Make Time for Others

Being thoughtful and thinking of others is a lovely trait to have. Showing that you're there for others and making time for them whether it be a FaceTime, call, text or even sending them a card/present is a lovely way to show them that you're thinking of them

Habit 8 - Read

This is a habit I need to get back into! Reading for at least 30 minutes a day is a great way to not only switch off and wind down but also learn and educate yourself on different topics or vocabulary. If reading isn't your thing then maybe try listening to an audiobook in a similar way to listening to a podcast e.g. whilst driving, getting ready etc.

Habit 9 - Exercise 3 Times A Week

Exercising 3 times a week will keep your body and mind healthy and active. If exercising isn't your thing then maybe you haven't found the right activity for you? Try a different activity such as swimming, cycling, at home workouts, joining some classes, running, boxing etc. Don't give up on exercise as you can reap so many benefits from it. Try and find an activity that works for you

Habit 10 - Drink Water

Throughout the day, make sure you are drinking plenty of water to help with your digestive system, mind, skin, body and overall health. I have done a blog post previously on the benefits of water if you would like to check it out. I try and drink 3 litres of water daily to keep my body flowing and my mind hydrated!

I hope this helps you start some new habits. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these or already do some of these habits. I would also love to hear your ideas on any other habits that are effective in a routine.
